Pittsburg High School Music Programs |
| Located along the delta banks where the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers meet, the one high school town of Pittsburg, California is known for its high caliber music program, and the Pittsburg High School Pirates Marching Show Band is its crowning jewel. The Band boasts a unique style that is a blend of the older, Big 10 (Michigan, Ohio State) marching bands with theatrical showmanship. Friday night, under the lights, crowds from all over the Bay Area enjoy a brand new, custom designed routine for each Pirate home game throughout football season. In fact, entertaining the audience is the highest priority for this group, their high-speed, high-stepping marching style with endless vignettes and ideas are a guaranteed thrill! |

| Pittsburg High School is also home to the PHS Wind Ensemble and PHS Concert Band, made up of first semester marching show band members, and classes begin the musicians' second semester. Year long Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band classes are also offered to students, with admission to the Ensemble by audition. Both Jazz groups perform at many of the City of Pittsburg functions as well as fundraisers for the Pittsburg High School Music Programs. PHS Music Programs are members of the CMEA Bay Section, attend yearly CMEA Music Festivals, and serve as hosts for the CMEA Band Festival held each spring. |
